The College of Applied Sciences and Arts, since its inception in 1950 as the Vocational Technical Institute, has undergone continuous change to address the workforce needs in the southern Illinois region, the state and the nation as well as the University’s mission as it evolved from a teacher’s college to a major Carnegie I research institution. 

The College presently includes four schools: Allied Health, Architecture, Information Systems & Applied Technologies, and Transportation. The College prides itself on efforts that are made to inspire and cultivate vision through personal involvement of students with faculty and staff toward achieving technical expertise for success in a diverse and changing society.  Faculty and staff are dedicated and committed to addressing the academic needs of students seeking opportunities to acquire high level skills in specific technical areas that will prepare them for the global workforce.

CASA Academic Excellence Fund: This helps provide funding to support and enhance academic excellence in the College of Applied Sciences and Arts.

CASA Student Scholarship Fund: This helps provide scholarships for students in the College of Applied Sciences and Arts.

CASA Military Scholarship Fund: This helps recognize and reward qualified undergraduate students majoring in Automotive Technology, Aviation Management, Electronics Systems Technologies, Fire Science Management and Health Care Management, who are enrolled in the CASA Off-Campus Programs. 

CASA Alumni Constituency Society Scholarship: The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial support for educational expenses of students in CASA who are family members of SIU alumni. 

Allied Health Activities Fund: Funds raised are used to enhance the School of Allied Health.

Architecture Activities Fund: Funds raised are used to support the architectural program. This could include scholarships for students, field trips, and purchasing equipment for student use.

Automotive Technology Activities Fund: Funds raised are used to enhance the automotive technology program.

Aviation Flight Development Fund: Funds raised are used for staff development activities, equipment purchases, faculty and staff travel for professional development.

Aviation Technology Development Fund: Funds raised are used for the development and improvement of the Department of Aviation Technologies.

Advanced Technical Studies Scholarship Activities Fund: This helps provide support for currently enrolled students majoring in advanced technical studies.

Computer Information Processing Activities Fund: Funds raised are used to support activities related to the mission of the department.  This includes scholarships for students, travel related to the curriculum, or instructional improvement equipment software or other expenses that relate to the mission of the program. 

Electronics Management/Technology Activities Fund: Funds raised are used for the general enhancement of the program. 

Saluki Cares Challenge
Saluki Cares facilitates and coordinates a university-wide program of care and support for students in distress. In addition to fostering a supportive environment, the program connects students to campus resources and provides students with opportunities to overcome personal and educational barriers on their path to success. The SIU Alumni Association will match every contribution to Saluki Cares up to $4,000 during #SIUDAY.
