SIU Day Of Giving

As one of the original colleges at SIU, the College of Education and Human Services (COEHS) has been shaping the educators who make a difference in the world. In addition to being a leader in off-campus and online education, programs and initiatives in the college continually earn national recognition.  Students enjoy the best of both worlds – strong academic programs combined with hands-on field experience in real work settings. 

The College includes eight academic units – Curriculum and Instruction; Counseling, Quantitative Methods & Special Education; Educational Administration & Higher Education; Kinesiology; Public Health & Recreation Professions; Rehabilitation Institute; School of Social Work; and Workforce Education & Development. 

The College also hosts several centers providing crucial services to the community and at the same time, provides our students vital hands-on training. These include the Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders, Center for Workforce Development, Evaluation and Developmental Center, Elena Sliepcevich Center for Health Education Studies, Illinois Nurse Aide Testing, Safety Center, and the Non-Academic Center. 

Your contribution is an investment in our students’ success.  We are thankful for your generosity.  Our fund priorities are listed below.

Education Academic Excellence Fund: This helps to provide funding to support and enhance excellence in COEHS. It provides support to students by providing scholarships.

Education Undergraduate Scholarships Fund: This was established via the Opportunity Through Excellence – Campaign for Southern campaign and provides scholarships to our undergraduate students.

Education Excellence Fund: This helps support the goals and objectives of the College of Education & Human Services

Education Scholarship Fund: The purpose of this is to support students in the College by providing scholarships. 

Education Facilities and Technology Fund: The purpose is to provide funding for the College of Education and Human Services facilities and technology. 

Teachers Shape the Future Fund:  To support teacher candidates admitted to TEP (Teacher Education Program) and currently enrolled in an EDUC clinical course.

Counseling, Quantitative Methods, and Special Education Development:  To provide financial support of the general needs of the multidisciplinary department.  

Students in Student Affairs:  Supports the student organization focused on fostering academic and professional development in student affairs.  

Curriculum and Instruction Resources for Education Excellence Fund:  Support of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction.  

EAHE Development Fund:  This fund provides general support of the Educational Administration and Higher Education Department. 

Physical Education/Kinesiology Excellence Fund:  This will help support students and faculty's educational activities in the Department of Kinesiology/Physical Education.  

Strong Survivors Fund:  The Strong Survivors Exercise and Nutrition Program for Cancer Survivors and Caregivers utilizes exercise as a therapeutic tool to help cancer survivors and caregivers get through the treatment and recovery process.  Exercise programs are individualized for each participant and are based on medical and fitness histories, initial fitness assessment results, and quality of life goals.  All programs are created and administered by SIU student staff members who have completed the Strong Survivors Staff Training Class.

Public Health & Recreation Excellence Fund:  This supports the general activities of the department.  

Rehabilitation Institute Activities Fund:  This fund supports the 6 academic programs offering pre-professional training to prepare students to enter a wide variety of positions in rehabilitation and human services settings.  

Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders Fund:  The Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders has been providing exemplary services to children and their families in the greater southern Illinois region for over a decade. The Center serves as a state-of-the-art training program for graduate students in the Behavior Analysis and Therapy and Communication Disorders & Sciences programs.

Social Work Activities Fund:  This supports the general improvement and advancement of the School of Social Work.  

Workforce Education and Development Scholarship Endowment:  This helps provide scholarships for graduate students majoring in Workforce Education and Development.
