The College of Applied Sciences and Arts, since its inception in 1950 as the Vocational Technical Institute, has undergone continuous change to address the workforce needs in the southern Illinois region, the state and the nation as well as the University’s mission as it evolved from a teacher’s college to a major Carnegie I research institution. 

The College presently includes four schools: Allied Health, Architecture, Information Systems & Applied Technologies, and Transportation. The College prides itself on efforts that are made to inspire and cultivate vision through personal involvement of students with faculty and staff toward achieving technical expertise for success in a diverse and changing society.  Faculty and staff are dedicated and committed to addressing the academic needs of students seeking opportunities to acquire high level skills in specific technical areas that will prepare them for the global workforce.

CASA Unrestricted:

CASA Academic Excellence Fund: This helps provide funding to support and enhance academic excellence in the College of Applied Sciences and Arts.

 

Health Sciences:

School of Health Sciences Activity Account Fund​: Funds raised are used to enhance the School of Allied Health.

Dental Hygiene Development:  Funds used to support students and programs in the Dental Hygiene program.  

Health Care Management Development:  Provides scholarships, faculty development, and educational materials to improve the Health Care Management program. 

On-Site Human Crematory Fund:  This fund will support the installation and upkeep of the new crematory for educational purposes.

Physical Therapist Assistant Fund:  Fund to enhance the Physical Therapist Assistant program.

Radiologic Technology Fund:  Fund to enhance the Radiologic Technology Program.

Nursing Program General Fund: Funds used to support students and programs in the SIU Nursing Program.

Monica L. Ryan Memorial Nursing Scholarship Endowment Fund:  Scholarship for students in the newly established Nursing Program.

Rehabilitation Institute Activities Fund:  This fund supports the 6 academic programs offering pre-professional training to prepare students to enter a wide variety of positions in rehabilitation and human services settings. 

Communication Disorders and Sciences Program Fund:  General support of Communication Disorders and Sciences program.

 

Transportation:

Automotive Technology Endowment Fund:  Funds raised are used to enhance the automotive technology program.

Aviation Flight Development Fund: Funds raised are used for staff development activities, equipment purchases, faculty and staff travel for professional development.

Aviation Technology Development Fund: Funds raised are used for the development and improvement of the Department of Aviation Technologies.

 

CASA Programs:

Architecture Activities Fund: Funds raised are used to support the architectural program. This could include scholarships for students, field trips, and purchasing equipment for student use.

Information Systems Technology Fund:  Provides scholarships, computer hardware, and computer software upgrades for students.

NEXT Scholarship in Interior Design:  Scholarship for a junior or senior student enrolled in the Interior Design program
