Student Affairs
1 vision. 24 hours.

The Division of Student Affairs at SIU is committed to supporting the mission of the University by providing purposeful and engaging programs, resources and spaces.  The goal is to create a comprehensive experience that supports and challenges all students to achieve their academic goals and realize their personal potential.

Student Affairs professionals facilitate student transition into the campus community, promote student involvement in out-of-classroom learning experiences, assist student organizations, provide leadership training and coordinate a wide range of programs and services designed to foster student learning.  This year we have selected nine areas of funding priorities below.

Saluki Cares Fund:  Saluki Cares facilitates and coordinates a University-wide program of care and support for students in distress. By working closely with faculty, staff, students and their families, SIU Carbondale displays a culture of caring by demonstrating to our students and families that they are an important part of the community.

Saluki Cares is an early alert initiative composed of professionals from different areas of campus life who work with students on a regular basis: Academic units, Dean of Students, New Student Programs, Center for International Education, University Housing, University College, Wellness Center, and others. Referrals are made from faculty, staff, family members, peers, or by the student him/herself.  For more information visit our webpage here:  https://salukicares.siu.edu/

Saluki Food Pantry:  The Saluki Food Pantry provides food assistance to students in times of need, helping them to stay in school and meet their educational goals.

Mission Statement: Develop and sustain a food pantry on the campus at SIU Carbondale to serve food insecure students. The food pantry will provide an opportunity for SIU students to serve other students and engage in conversations and solutions around food insecurity.  For more information visit our webpage: https://studentcenter.siu.edu/services/saluki-food-pantry.php

SIU Esports:  SIU will be creating an Esports center to compete in both intramural and intercollegiate competitions.  These are all computer and internet based games that use high-end Alienware Dell computers, with headphones and the specialty keyboards and mice and all those things that go with it, all the peripherals.  Funding will help support the creation of the program and the space needed at the Student Center.
